Book: The Ghost Hunter's Survival Guide

Author: Michelle Belanger

Cost: $16.95 plus S&H (from Amazon.com)

Ok, let me say this book is awesome.  There are so many books out there on the hard side topics of ghost hunting such as technology, forms to use, EVPs, etc. etc. etc.  This is the first book I've come across that focuses on the soft side of the field.  It focuses on Grounding, Centering, and Protection sheilds that both the investigator can use during investigations, as well as to show the client how to use them.  It addresses Warding and Binding (only to be used in extreme cases).  Talks about the different types of hauntings as well as person energy types.

The entire book has a common case that is followed in each chapter and tools are provided to help deal with an issue encountered in that chapter.

All of the tools/techniques provided are done from a non-denomination view point, but the author talks about religions and similar techniques they use to do the same thing.  Each chapter has a skeptics corner , beyond belief, and what you need to know box that goes into more details for certain topics.

I think Michelle is a great writer and conveyer of the topic at hand.  I highly recommend this book.

I give this book 5 out of 5 ghosts.

NOTE: Michelle is one of the psychics used by Paranormal State.

Not that crazy about PS, but I do like Michelle Belanger.  I do think there should be a balance of the spiritual and the scientific.  There are those that say it can't be done, but I don't agree with that.  I think that going into an investigation with a balanced and centered attitude will aid in being able to differentiate between something that may legitimately be paranormal and something with an explanation.  I believe the two can go hand in hand. (science and spirituality, I mean)

I'm not crazy at all about it.  The main part I like is when Chip is on there.   I also didn't like her until I read this book.  I saw her on a show on the history channel before (you'll get brownie points if you know which one) and that kinda ruined it for me......   Have changed my mind now.

Well if it was MonsterQuest, they sure didn't portray her very well. I like Michelle alot though, she has given me solid and intelligent answers that I couldn't find on my own. In my opinion, The Ghost Hunters Guide...should be recommended reading for investigators.

The only History Channel show I knew about her being on was Vampire Secrets.

I will be checking this book out.  I have found in reading Belanger's work, even when I don't agree with her, I find myself learning something.  Thanks for taking the time to review it, Melissa! :)
